18. Petersburger Dialogue in Bonn

Bonn, 19.07.2019, Petersburg Dialogue, 2nd day: Punctually in the early morning, the Petersburg Dialogue started work in its eight working groups. Unlike in Moscow a year earlier, the atmosphere was marked by the desire for rapprochement and friendship. Our senior partner Prof. Ehlers, member of the AG GESUNDHEIT, gave a lecture on “Digitisation: Innovation with risks and side effects”. Finally, he presented a catalogue of measures for discussion in the working group which could improve the cooperation between Germany and Russia in this field for the benefit of all patients. Overall, a general consensus on all topics of the general topic “Interaction of science, medical practice and education in health care” was noticeable in the working group. The deputy health minister Oleg Salagay, with whom Prof. Ehlers also arranged further meetings and projects on the fringes of the working group, was impressed by the harmonious, friendly and consensual cooperation. In the final plenum – after the award of the Peter Boenisch Memorial Prize 2019 – the chairmen Dr. W. Subkow and R. Pofalla repeated the new quality of the cooperation and the first solutions found in the same way in their summaries and outlooks. This Petersburg Dialogue was dedicated to this year’s theme “Cooperation as a leitmotif for a Europe in Peace: contributions from the civil societies of Russia and Germany”, as Prof. Ehlers confirmed to the journalists present. Afterwards, the talks were deepened during a final trip on the Rhine. A big thank you to the organization under its managing director Martin Hoffmann.
